Japanese Photobook Night

Join us and PAX at Aspex Portsmouth for a Photobook Night exploring a special collection of Japanese books from University Arts Bournemouth.

You’ll have the chance to take a look through and be inspired by a range of Japanese photobooks from the Arts University Bournemouth’s (AUB) collection. AUB specialist subject librarian Alan Turner will also provide an introduction to the collections held at the university, including details on how members of the public can access these.

This will be followed by an illustrated talk; ‘From Photobook to Installation: Japanese Photography in the 1960s and ’70s’ by art historian and critic Dr Jelena Stojkovic, author of ‘The Impossible Avant-Garde: Surrealism and Photography in 1930s Japan’.
