Pompey Darkroom is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and Portsmouth’s only photography organisation. We create opportunities for artists, young people and communities to discover photography, develop skills and connect with others.

Photography can often feel inaccessible or exclusive, particularly when people don’t have access to equipment, creative opportunities or a supportive community. We’re driven to change that, making photography open and accessible to everyone.

Our diverse programme brings photography into everyday life through events and activities for photographers, artists and educators. From workshops and photowalks to exhibitions, photobook nights and critiques, we create opportunities for photographers to develop their practice and for people to discover and explore photography. We’re also developing access to darkroom facilities and traditional analogue printing, keeping these skills alive and opening them up to new audiences.

We’re proud to work with organisations, artists and communities across Portsmouth, sharing knowledge, resources and opportunities. We believe that by working together, we can create more opportunities, stronger connections and better experiences for the communities we serve.
