We're really excited to announce that we have commissioned Eddie Stenstrom to work on a photo project exploring the idea of 'safe spaces' within the queer community. This project is part of a collaboration with Downtown Pompey. We are also hosting a Photo Walk that gives people the opportunity to explore the concept of a safe space with Eddie in collaboration with Queer All Year. Please see the events section for more.

CALL FOR SUBJECTS
This is an opportunity to sit for a photographic project. Eddie Stenstrom the photographer
is looking for sitters to participate in a photographic project dedicated to exploring what ‘safe
spaces’ means for queer individuals.
Emphasising that safe spaces are not limited to physical locations; they can also be
moments, feelings, or experiences that evoke a sense of security, comfort, and authenticity.
This is a chance to support an emerging artist, have fun in a photography studio setting and
come away with a portrait which you'll be sent after the project is exhibited.
What to Expect:
● An in studio photo session with colour gels.
● An optional audio interview to share your story and the significance of what a ‘safe
space’ is to you.
● The opportunity to be part of an exhibition or publication that aims to raise awareness
and foster understanding and community.
● A collaborative and respectful environment.
This project is in collaboration with Pompey Darkroom and is part of a response to
Downtown Pompey's queer mapping project. Work made from this will be included in an
exhibition put on by Eddie as part of the Photo Fringe festival coming to Portsmouth in
October.
